Standing On The Promises

I feel impressed to encourage you to keep standing on the Promises of God.   I sense  frustration and a weariness gnawing around the edges.  It is September and 2010 is more than half over.  May be you feel like your life is half over too, and things you’ve been believing for have not yet manifested. Perhaps you’ve even been bitterly disappointed in a few things.  Or maybe you’ve blithely sailed through the year, but looking back you’re disconcerted by the lack of fruit produced to show for the year thus far.  Do not waiver in standing firm and finishing strong!  Cheer up! The writer of Hebrews has given us some excellent instructions:

Heb 10:23 (AMP)  So let us seize and hold fast and retain without wavering the hope we cherish and confess and our acknowledgement of it, for He Who promised is reliable (sure) and faithful to His word.

We need a good dose of hope and cheer.

John 16:33  (AMP)  I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you]

But we don’t face them alone, nor without resources!  In fact if we look at some of our forefathers and mothers of the Faith who stood for Christ over the past 200 years or so, we find such wonderful encouragements in their words:  “On Christ the Solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand His oath, His covenant, His blood, Support me in the whelming flood. When all around my soul gives way, He then is all my Hope and Stay. Edward Mote

Standing on the promises that cannot fail, When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail, By the living Word of God I shall prevail, Standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord, Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord, Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword, Standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises I cannot fall, Listening every moment to the Spirit’s call
Resting in my Savior as my all in all, Standing on the promises of God.   Standing, standing, Standing on the promises of God my Savior; Standing, standing, I’m standing on the promises of God.

R. Kelso Carter 1886  Music by John Sweney

“Give me the love that leads the way, The faith that nothing can dismay, The hope no disappointments tire, The passion that will burn like fire, Let me not sink to be a clod: Make me Thy fuel, Flame of God”. – Amy Carmichael  Missionary to India  (life:16 December 1867 - 18 January 1951)

I give you some thoughts of my own:

Some people call Faith foolishness.
I call foolishness that which would rather believe only in
what can be seen right now, which is subject to change,
rather than the Eternal which changes not!

Call upon God Who is God of Eternity who created us in His Image and chose us to be with Him, and who shapes and fashions everything by His Word and let Him reshape your “now” as you embrace your Destiny and step out in Faith to meet the Future He has planned for you.  --Nancy Elaine Minor
